Gleep-Glop and the Floopty Doos

Danny looks and Wheeler as says, "Dude, I just spent the afternoon in Middle-earth with glee-glop and the floopty-doos, all right? Give me a break." If anyone has seen the movie Role Models they'll recognize the name L.A.I.R.E. which stands for Live Action Interactive Roleplaying Explorers. A game in which Augie actively dresses up as a medieval character and fights battles with foam swords. This weekend I was surrounded by crowds in the thousands all suited up in their favorite Anime character for RIT's Tora Con convention. Robert Davis traveled from Cicero, New York dressed as his character Kakashi Hatake from the show Naruto, "I've been doing these things for six years. I am what you call a totalitarian character." He has studied Kakashi Hatake's signature moves, hand signals, and gestures. For two days people from as far away as Canada and New Jersey roamed the campus viewing Anime shows, signings, venues, and contests. The costumes were impressive as well as creative. These kids are no joke, portraying, as accurately as possible 2d television characters. The largest event of the convention included over 50 role players competing for the best, most accurately reproduced costumes. Above suited teens sit at a table in the SAU enjoying tea time.
